October will be Hindu Heritage Month in several states around the United States

The month of October has been designated as Hindu Heritage Month by Indian Americans in the United States (US). For Hindu Americans, October, the month of Gandhi’s birth and the month in which Diwali normally falls, has long been a festive month. The Hindu American Foundation was the driving force behind a California resolution declaring October to be Hindu American Awareness and Appreciation Month. From now on, October will be known as Hindu Heritage Month. The month of October is Hindu Heritage Month in the United States. According to PTI, more than half a dozen states have issued proclamations in this regard.

Hindu organisations in the United States are now pushing and working hard to have “Hindu Heritage Month” formally declared by the US government. Organizers urge President Joe Biden to issue an executive order designating October as Hindu Heritage Month. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) president, Ajay Shah, said it was astonishing how little people understood about the Sanatan Vedic tradition. “It is past time for the rest of the world to learn about our philosophy and ethos. By mid-July, he claimed, the VHPA and other Hindu organisations had sent over 20 letters to state governors urging that October be designated as Hindu Heritage Month.
