California-based Startup Biliti Electric Inc. has announced that the company will set up the world’s largest three-wheel electric vehicle factory in Telangana. The production capacity of the plant will be 240,000 electric vehicles per year.

The plant is expected to generate $150 million in private investment and create more than 3,000 jobs in the state. The company said in an official statement.

The facility will be built in two phases on 200 acres of land. The first phase will be built on 13.5 acres of land with a production capacity of 18,000 vehicles per year and is expected to be launched in early 2023.

The largest facility, spread over 200 acres, will become operational in 2024 and will be capable of producing 2.4 lakh units per year. The company said the factories will produce all of Biliti’s products, including the Taskman cargo model and the urban passenger version, to serve customers in the global market.

”The Taskman has already made more than 12 million deliveries worldwide with many more to come. Our batteries and drivetrain are compact and modular in design, allowing them to have wider applications in auto, marine, warehousing, and backup power sectors, enabling the buildout of an EV ecosystem,” Biliti Electric CEO Rahul Gayam noted.

“The State is committed to promoting clean industries and promises to extend all benefits to the company admissible under the government’s policy,” said Telangana industries minister K.T. Rama Rao

Biliti’s popular last-mile delivery cart, Taskman, is used in 15 countries around the world, including Japan, the US, the UK, France, Portugal, Germany, Lebanon, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Nepal, Bangladesh, Dubai and India.

Biliti currently operates an exclusive manufacturing partnership with Hyderabad-based Gayam Motor Works (GMW) to manufacture its three-wheelers.
