ISpA stands for the Indian Space Industry’s Premier Industry Association of Space and Satellite Companies, and it seeks to represent the industry’s collective voice. It would interact with all players in the Indian space domain, including the government and its agencies, on policy advocacy. ISpA will help India become self-sufficient, technologically competent, and a prominent actor in the space arena, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. ISpA is made up of major domestic and international companies with sophisticated space and satellite technology skills.

The ISpA is the leading industry organisation of space and satellite firms, according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and strives to be the collective voice of the Indian space industry. It would engage with all players in the Indian space sector, including the government and its agencies, to advocate for policy changes. ISpA would help India become self-reliant, technologically advanced, and a prominent actor in the space arena, according to the announcement, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

ISpA is made up of major domestic and international companies with sophisticated space and satellite technology skills. Larson & Toubro, Nelco (Tata Group), OneWeb, Bharti Airtel, Mapmyindia, Walchandnagar Industries, and Ananth Technology Limited are among its founding members. Godrej, Hughes India, Azista-BST Aerospace Private Limited, BEL, Centum Electronics, and Maxar India are among the other founding members. “The private space industry in India wants to establish successful and sustainable businesses that serve the world,” said Neha Satak, co-founder and CEO of Astrome Technologies. “My personal goal is for India to become a global centre for space products and technology.”Awais Ahmed, the founder and CEO of Pixxel, said the PM’s decision to take the time to form the agency “signals the government’s commitment in catalysing this space.”
