The Punjab government has started the process of regularising jobs of 35,000 contractual employees, said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday.
The chief minister added that he has already held meetings with all officers in the government and asked the chief secretary to stop the hiring people through contractual employment and outsourcing. He added that the chief secretary has also to prepare a bill for regularisation of services before the next Vidhan Sabha session. “We want to implement it at the earliest by getting the bill passed through the Vidhan Sabha,” he said in a video message posted on Twitter.
Bhagwant Mann said that his government will fulfill every promise made to people before the election.

This is the second job-related announcement made by the Chief Minister since the AAP came into power in Punjab.
In the first cabinet meeting, the state government passed a proposal of providing a total of 25,000 government jobs. Of these jobs, 10,000 posts are in Punjab Police alone. The process of advertisement and notification of these jobs would be initiated within a month. The remaining 25,000 jobs will be created in other government departments, boards, and corporations of the state government, said the spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
