Power Grid India Donates Medical Equipment to Faridabad District Hospital

Under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, (Northern Region-I) Executive Director AK Mishra handed over medical equipment to Dr Harish Arya, Deputy CMO, District Hospital Faridabad. The initiative will help in augmenting the overall health infrastructure of the district, said the company.

Protection against Covid-19 and the safety and health of citizens as well as general welfare are the main priorities of the government. Portable ABG machines help in the rapid analysis of blood parameters of critically ill patients in both the intensive care unit and trauma centre, making it easy for the attending physicians to quickly diagnose the patient’s condition and determine the course of treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, AK Mishra reiterated Powergrid’s commitment to contribute to the welfare of society. He apprised the Haryana state officials about the CSR assistance provided to the district authorities during the pandemic.

In line with provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, the CSR budget of Powergrid is 2 percent of the average net profit made during the three immediately preceding financial years. Accordingly, it has made expenditures in a number of CSR schemes.

Powergrid has contributed ₹200 crore towards PM CARES fund (₹130 crore during 2019-20 and ₹70 crore during 2020-21). It has earmarked ₹30 crore for undertaking various CSR activities, including distribution of meal packets/ration, PPE kits, masks and gloves, etc., to labourers and needy persons, and providing financial assistance to different government authorities, government hospitals, medical colleges for procurement of PPE kits, medical equipment, ventilators, etc.

In all, 32 projects have been sanctioned for COVID-19 related activities. Powergrid has distributed more than 1.59 lakh packets of cooked meals and more than 1847 MT ration to nearly 2.56 lakh beneficiaries at 276 locations. Furthermore, 14,000 PPE kits, 3.66 lakh masks, 36,000 gloves and 26,500 litres of sanitisers have been distributed to more than 58,000 persons.
