In a function held at the State PCB in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Minister of Forest and Environment and Parliamentary Affairs, Bikram Keshari Arukha handed over the award to Nalco’s Mines Team for effective pollution control measures and sound environmental management practices.

Nalco recently distributed a large number of saplings to the villagers of Kutudi, Mundagadati, Upergadati and Talagadati near its mines and refinery Plant in Damanjodi, Odisha.

Starting from implementing a zero discharge system for effluent, Nalco’s bauxite mine has adopted concurrent reclamation and rehabilitation of mined-out areas. The Panchpatmali Mine has planted more than 37 lakh trees so far. Steps have also been taken to improve biodiversity in the mined-out areas.
