NTPC CSR: Power Minister Flags Off 4 ALS Ambulances To IGIMS, Patna

Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh flagged off four ambulances with Advance Life Saving Facilities (ALS) to Indira Gandhi Academy of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna under the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) corporate social responsibility programme (CSR).

The keys were handed over to IGIMS Medical Superintendent Manish Mandal at a function held at IGIMS Administrative Office Complex. Singh, Union Minister for Power, virtually attended the function from Delhi, while  Bijender Prasad Yadav, Power Minister, Bihar State Government and Mangal Pandey, Health Minister, Bihar State Government were present on the occasion.

Union minister RK Singh said that NTPC has spent over Rs.3,200 crore in the last four years for Bihar state under the CSR scheme. He said, IGIMS had already been provided with 10 ambulances and two more would be provided at the request of the Bihar government.

Appreciating the efforts of NTPC and State Health Department to strengthen the health sector in the State, these works are for the progress and welfare of the people of the state and such efforts will continue in future also, the minister added.

The state-of-the-art ambulances, built at a cost of Rs.80 lakh, are equipped with medical equipment such as an auto-loading stretcher, wheelchair-cum-stair chair, transport ventilator, syringe infusion pump, multi-parameter monitor, vacuum splint, portable oxygen cylinder with the regulator, emergency kit and rescue equipment, among others.

Earlier, NTPC had provided ambulances and supported medical infrastructure projects in various states. In addition, Rs.21.06 crore has been provided by NTPC as financial assistance for the construction of a dedicated burn unit at AIIMS, Patna.

Bihar Energy Minister, Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Health Minister Mangal Pandey also addressed the gathering and lauded the efforts of NTPC in providing support to the medical infrastructure of the state.
