Maruti Suzuki India Limited has spent Rs 100.7 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in FY2021-22. Total spending on Corporate Social Responsibility for the year was calculated at 2.67% of its net profit.
The company has fully spent the amount required for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and there is no unspent CSR amount for specific funds as per the provisions required in Annex VII of the Companies Act or Special Accounts for the year. Sub transfer Section (6) of Section 135 of said Act.
The company carries out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in road safety, skills development and community development in line with national development priorities.
Board-approved CSR activities are ongoing. Although the allocated funds are fully utilized, the last 2-3 years have seen a substantial reduction in the CSR budget due to low profits.
The company has established a 50-bed multi-specialty hospital in Sitapur, Gujarat, as part of its CSR program in partnership with the philanthropic arm of Zydus Group of Hospitals Ahmedabad. In the 2021-22 financial year, more than 25,000 people from 25 neighboring towns benefited from the health services of this hospital.
The company has established a school in Sitapur, Gujarat, in association with Podar Education Network. Its main branch has been operational since April 2021. 150 children from the nearby local community attend the school.
The company supports 69 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) throughout the country for vocational training. The organization has taken on 30 ITIs in different states and has educated over 6,800 students in 2021-22.
