Main Bhi Digital 3.0 Empowers Street Vendors

The joint campaign of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Main Bhi Digital 3.0 campaign gave impetus to digital onboarding and training of street vendors benefitted under PM SVANidhi scheme, Kaushal Kishore, Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs informed the Parliament during the Winter session. Digital onboarding and training of street vendors (SVs) is an integral part of PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbharNidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. The campaign ran from 9 September to 30 November 2021.

An integrated IT platform has been developed for the implementation of PM SVANidhi. The application process is fully online. The street vendors can apply for loans directly through the PM SVANidhi portal. The application can also be submitted at Municipal Offices and Common Service Centres (CSCs). In addition, the street vendors can approach municipal functionaries or representatives of lending institutions (LIs) to apply through PM SVANidhi mobile app. The LIs have been instructed to issue a durable QR code and UPI ID at the time of disbursement and train the beneficiaries in the conduct of digital transactions.

PM SVANidhi is a Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs scheme with the objective to facilitate working capital loans up to Rs.10,000, incentivise regular repayment and reward digital transactions. It aims to help formalise street vendors and open new opportunities for them to move up the economic ladder.
