Consumer durables company LG Electronics has pledged to contribute Rs.1 crore under its Kar Salaam initiative to India’s Armed Forces. LG Electronics will make the contribution to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) on the occasion of Republic Day.

Launched in 2017, LG’s Kar Salaam salutes veterans of the Indian Armed Forces for their generous contribution towards the nation and the spirit of service. The contribution made in 2021 is used for the education of children.

“LG Electronics is one of the most loved and trusted brands by millions of consumers, and as a responsible brand, we are committed to contributing for meaningful social causes and Kar Salaam is an extension of this philosophy,” said LG Electronics India MD Young Lak Kim, who called the initiative a drive to extend company’s support to thousands of families of ex-servicemen, who have served the nation with undeterred commitment and dedication.

“We hope that by this contribution, we are able to further bring positive support and change to their families. We also urge the people of India to come forward and join this movement. We are extremely thankful to Kendriya Sainik Board for being our trusted partner in helping us implement this initiative,” Kim added.

Air Commodore B. Ahluwalia, Secretary KSB, said, “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund is set up to serve welfare and rehabilitation needs of ex-servicemen and families of the defence force. We have a huge requirement and initiatives like Kar Salaam certainly help us in raising awareness and generation of funds, which helps in the welfare of war widows, children of martyr’s, war disabled soldiers and ex-servicemen.”

The Air Commodore applauded LG Electronics for coming forward and creating a mass movement for the initiative, as he believed every day is Armed Forces Flag Day and all people of India must come forward and contribute.

“The earlier contribution by LG Electronics has helped in supporting the education of girl child. We are confident that initiatives like this will help in creating a mass movement to help the cause,” Ahluwalia added.

To further support the cause, LG will conduct a public awareness drive to request and urge people to come forward, show support for the cause and contribute to the AFFDF. LG Electronics will run radio and digital campaigns to further amplify communication across the masses for the initiative. The awareness campaign will also run at 7,000 retail stores across the country.
