Lenovo will eliminate one million tonnes of Green House Gas emissions from its supply chain by FY 2025/26, in addition to the 2030 Science-Based objectives. By FY 2025/26, all PC goods will be made entirely of post-consumer recycled materials. Following the achievement of its 2020 Diversity and Inclusion representation targets, Lenovo has set new representation goals for FY 2025/26, focusing on women and under-represented minority executives in the United States.
By FY 2029/30, Lenovo plans to enhance energy efficiency by 50 percent for desktops and servers and 30 percent for laptops and Motorola products. By FY 2025/26, the company plans to obtain 90% of its electricity from renewable sources and eliminate one million tonnes of GHG emissions from its supply chain. These aims complement its science-based 2030 targets, which include a 50% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in emissions intensity across the value chain in three core areas (products, suppliers and transportation).
“The need to tackle climate change, protect natural resources, invest in our communities, and conduct ourselves with the greatest ethical standards has only grown,” CEO Yang Yuanqing stated. “In the months, years, and decades ahead, global corporations and their leaders must continue to develop resilience into our operations and among our communities.” Lenovo will continue to innovate in the supply chain and product design to move toward a circular economy, while maximising the use of sustainable materials to reduce waste. 100% of PC products will incorporate post-consumer recycled materials by FY 2025/26, and 90% of plastic packaging will be created from recycled materials. By FY 2025/26, smartphone packaging will use 50% fewer single-use plastics and will shrink by 10% in size and volume. Lenovo will also enable the recycling and reuse of 363 million kilogrammes of end-of-life items, and its products will contain 136 million kilogrammes of post-consumer recycled content plastics.
