Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President, today encouraged the industry to step forward and support sports in the country. He expressed his delight at India’s strong showing at the Tokyo Olympics, but added that we should strive for even greater success next time. He claims that every time he visits our beautiful country’s North-Eastern region, he feels revitalised and refreshed. He characterised the scenic beauty and peacefulness of the highlands, combined with the warmth of the people, as a wonderful experience, referring to the eight North-Eastern states as “glittering jewels in India’s crown.”

The Vice President, who is on an eight-day tour of North-Eastern states, met with a group of Manipur achievers who have made a difference in their disciplines today. Olympians, literary and cultural luminaries, artists, and instructors were among those who attended the ceremony at Raj Bhawan in Imphal. Shri Naidu congratulated them on their accomplishments and advised them to continue striving for greatness in their vocations. During the meeting, India’s boxing star Smt.
