The technique of giving Life Certificate is a historic and far-reaching reform, as it will serve 68 lakh Central Government pensioners and crores of pensioners of EPFO and state governments, among others. National Informatics Center (NIC), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) have devised the technology.

He said, the effort in issuing electronic PPOs and pushing the same in Digi locker is a huge step towards Ease of Living and transparency. To create awareness among pensioners, the department has been bringing out e-booklets and running campaigns on all social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. He added that the department had also started the system of registering pensioners’ associations in different cities, and with around 46 registered associations in different cities, the department has been able to reach grassroot level to help many pensioners and or spread awareness of the Pension Policy Reforms.
