The Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in a reply to the Rajya Sabha informed that the Ministry through Maulana Azad Education Foundation, an autonomous body has implemented Gharib Nawaz Employment Scheme to provide short-term job oriented skill development courses to the minorities’ youth. The Scheme is being implemented as per the norms of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSD&E) with a view to enable them for skill-based employment through the Program Implementation Agencies (PIAs). A total of 371 training centres have been opened across the country. A total of 65 training centres have been opened in 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh alone with a total allocation of 9620 trainees.
As per the scheme guidelines, employment opportunities (organized & unorganized sectors) are being provided to all the beneficiaries. The PIA is mandated to place a minimum of 70 percent of trainees out of total trained trainees. The monthly stipend for a maximum of three months and post-placement support for a maximum of two months after getting employment are also being paid to the beneficiaries directly into their account.
