October 5, 2021

Amazon promises to empower and give CS learning opportunities to more than one lakh students from 900 government and aided institutions across seven Indian states in the first year of its introduction

Amazon has started a community programme for children with the goal of providing computer science education to over 1 lakh pupils from 900 rural Indian institutions, including government and government-aided schools. Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana will be among the seven Indian states where Amazon’s computer science education initiative would be implemented. The campaign is aimed at students in grades 6 through 12. Amazon claims it will collaborate on this project with a number of education-related non-profits.

“We at Amazon believe that Computer Science (CS) has the power to unleash creativity and unlock human potential. We also recognise that although talent and passion are universal, opportunity is not,” said Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s Global Senior Vice President and Country Head, in a news statement. “In India, students from impoverished backgrounds confront disproportionate educational challenges, particularly in computer science. He continued, “We are pleased to bring the Amazon Future Engineer project to India.”

“We believe that all young people, regardless of their backgrounds, should have access to high-quality computer science education,” Amit Agarwal explained. “We expect that students will emerge more confident and skilled as responsible producers of technology solutions, building a brighter future for themselves and their communities,” he said. “In India, students from poor areas suffer unequal educational challenges, particularly in the field of computer science. We’re ecstatic to bring the Amazon Future Engineer project to India because we believe that all young people, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to learn about computer science. “Our goal is to offer CS curriculum to these students in the languages of their convenience and choice, arming them with the proper skills and tools to help them construct their career outlook,” said Amit Agarwal, Global Senior VP and Country Head, Amazon India. to be able to grow
