The State Bank of India (SBI) has donated an emergency response ambulance vehicle each to AIG Hospitals and Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, Telangana, as part of efforts aimed at augmenting medical infrastructure facilities for the public.

State Bank of India chairman Dinesh Khara is on a short visit to Hyderabad in connection with various official engagements. In an event organised by the bank at Hotel Taj Krishna, he handed over keys of the ambulances to the hospitals.

The bank has entered into tie-up arrangements with hospitals in Telangana for providing ambulance services to the public, as a measure to meet the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to be in preparedness for the third wave.

Addressing the gathering, Khara stated that the bank has always been at the forefront to support activities of the noble cause. “As a responsible corporate citizen, it is our moral duty to ensure that the bank contributes meaningfully to all initiatives protecting the interest of society. The importance of health could not be more appreciated than in the present day and age as during the last two years entire society across the globe faced severe health challenges.”

Hyderabad Circle Chief General Manager Amit Jhingran said corporate social responsibility activities for ₹3 crores have been supported thus far this year by the circle. It is committed to continuing support to the needy and deserving sections of society.

As part of the CSR activities of SBI this year, the bank has already donated an oxygen generator to the Thrissur district. In addition, the bank has donated 100 laptops in the first instalment to the state government’s Vidyakiranam project.
