The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started preparations for the upcoming Ganeshotsav and its solid waste management department has decided to install 150 “immersion tanks on wheels” during the 10-11 days of the festival.

In addition to the mobile dip tanks, the civic body will also have 135 permanent tanks for immersion throughout the city.

The immersion of Ganesha idols takes place one and a half, five, seven and ten days after Ganeshotsav and the civic body has planned to build an immersion pool accordingly.

This year 150 portable tanks will be installed by the Solid Waste Department. Arrangements will be made separately from the fifteen zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation.

Also this year, 136 immersion tanks will be built in different parts of the city. The municipality said that spending was approved for other things such as cleaning, painting, lighting and tanks.

After banning the celebration for the past two years, the city will witness full-blown Ganeshotsav celebrations this year. A joint meeting of representatives from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune City Police and Ganeshotsav Mandal was held on 8 August to discuss pending issues related to Ganeshotsav public mandals.
