ONGC arranges a study tour for Gen-Next generation in nation-building

October 20, 2021

A study tour was organised by ONGC for students from Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET)

ONGC hosted a study excursion for students from Godavari Institute of Engineering & Technology (GIET) of Rajahmundry to its Mini Refinery at Tatipaka and Gas Collecting Station at Kesanapalli in honour of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” The travels took place from October 5 to 9, 2021, in five groups of about 25 pupils each. The tours are intended to give students an understanding of ONGC’s diverse oil-field operations in order to instil a zeal for nation-building endeavours in the young engineers. Senior engineers from ONGC explained how a production installation works, including how crude oil, natural gas, and water are extracted from wells, separated, and treated. Students learned how oil and gas are transferred to Tatipaka refinery and GAIL, respectively, following treatment. The oil industry’s technological complexities piqued the interest of engineering students.

Under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ ONGC is hosting study visits for 25 groups, each with roughly 100 students, from September 2021 to January 2022, under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) (AKAM). ONGC is also partnering with other oil PSUs under this AKAM to implement a number of programmes aimed at boosting the country’s indigenous handicraft sector. Until August 15, 2022, 75 distinct handicraft projects will be launched across the country by Centre public enterprises under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. ONGC has assumed the lead and is funding 15 of these projects.
