Odisha Mining Corporation Bags Award for CSR And Pandemic Response

The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has bagged People First HR Excellence Award 2021 in the Leading Practices in Pandemic Response category for its sustained efforts and strategy to contain the spread of COVID19 at the workplace, and in Leading Practices in Corporate Social Responsibility category for its wider spectrum of CSR initiatives.

The honours were given in a virtual event coordinated by People First–a talent firm. In the current year, OMC’s interesting drives in areas of security, climate, CSR, mechanical mediations, human resource, and so on, have been awarded at the significant platform. Recently, the Daitari and Kurmitar mines of the corporation have been conferred with Kalinga Safety Excellence Award at the Odisha State Safety Conclave 2021 organised at Bhubaneswar. The Daitari mine has also won the Golden Peacock Occupational Health and Safety Award 2021.

For its smart-driven CSR programme, OMC has been given the CSR Excellence Award 2021 by Apex India Foundation, CSR India Award 2021 by Greentech Foundation, and Best CSR Team Award by Odisha CSR Forum.

“For its unmatched environment protection measures, OMC’s Daitari mine has been conferred with Greentech Environment Award 2021. Most importantly, the technology-driven Stockyard Management System (SMS) of the corporation successfully won the most prestigious SKOCH award recently,” the PSU further added.

OMC has contributed Rs.100 crore to Chief Ministers’ Relief Fund in the aftermath of cyclonic storm Fani. The organisation actively collaborates with state government for various development programmes. It is the largest state government owned PSU engaged in mining sector in India. It has planted saplings through State Forest Department at the rate of one tree for every 10 MT of ore extracted in the periphery of the mining leases located in the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Kalahandi district of Odisha. A total of 10.37 lakh seedlings were planted during 2015-16 and about 10 lakh saplings during 2016-17 against which OMC has so far deposited Rs.321.04 lakh to the State Forest Department.
