Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented copies of the status report of the Outcome Budget for the year 2021-22 in the Delhi Assembly on Friday. In the budget speech, Sisodia said, in 2021-22, 21,554 electric vehicles have been registered in Delhi. The number is 10 percent of the total number of new vehicles registered in the capital.

Manish Sisodia said that the sale of electric vehicles is increasing in Delhi. By 2024, 25 percent of the vehicles in the city will be electric vehicles.

During the Outcome Budget, the Delhi Deputy CM said that till December 2021, 6,670 electric two-wheelers and 12,136 e-rickshaws/e-carts have been registered under the EV policy of Delhi.

Not only has the registration of electric vehicles increased, but these vehicles have sold more in the first quarter of 2022 than CNG-powered vehicles. In 2020, the number of CNG-run vehicles, 6,368, was higher than the number of registered electric vehicles, 5,814. The following year, the number of registered CNG vehicles (7,684) exceeded 5,244 EVs. This year, however, the gap is huge, with 7,182 CNG vehicles registered against 11,285 electric vehicles. However, when petrol-CNG cars are included, the figure is higher than that of electric vehicles.

The Delhi Deputy Chief Minister said that Delhi government is working on a war footing to build the city’s charging infrastructure and has recently launched tenders for 100 new charging stations, of which 500 will be installed in public-private partnership mode in the capital. He also informed that said that, in 2021, about 3 crore women have availed the free bus service.
