20th Century Mindset Needs to Go for 21st Century Advancement

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh made a number of sweeping comments that could change the way we think and function in terms of the opportunities we foresee for better social and economic structures and goals in the 21st Century. This would begin by acting on removing the 20th Century mindset.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh started out by talking about the plethora and variety of opportunities available in the 21st Century. Yet, these do come with requirements of their own so that one can tap into them. When speaking of how the 20th Century mindset has to be let go off, in order to make use of these opportunities, he was speaking at the Seminar cum Interactive Session on the theme “Youth Contribution to India @ 100” organised by the University of Jammu at Zorawar Singh Auditorium here today to mark “Amrit Mahotsava”.

Some of the key points he made when it came to the 20th-century mindset and how it must go for the 21st-century opportunities to be evolved are as follows:

  • Aspire, Compete, Innovate: He talked about how the 20th Century factory mindset must be abandoned in order to keep up with dynamic innovation and the climate of constant newness that gets rewarded in various global sectors. He noted how being competent now means being able to aspire where no one has gone and to be able to innovate accordingly.
  • Responsible Governments: Here, he spoke purely from the standpoint of social impact when he talked about the global government jobs of the future. He mentioned that the current government under the stewardship of PM Modi was the only one that matched the 21st-century opportunities that needed a concrete commitment to climate change, inclusion, diversity and innovation with upskilling and a focus on trade.
